TVM completed the planning processes through the City of Peterborough allowing for the first phase of the old hospital site to be redeveloped.
TVM's crews completed the entire interior demolition of the building along with the removal of external staircases and structural and mechanical connections to the other buildings at the site. All asbestos containing materials were removed and the building was cleared for construction to begin.
The project required major structural work as the lower level of the building was raised to accommodate a new fully accessible office space for Community Care Peterborough. Further, the original services to the building were removed and a new elevator shaft was created within the building. New fire hydrants were placed to enhance and ensure life safety.
TVM crews installed all new electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, windows, life safety systems, walls, stairs, entrances, parking and finishes to the building. Essentially, the only component of the building that remained was the solid superstructure.
185 Hunter Street East is now home to the built-to-suit head office of Community Care Peterborough along with 30 fully accessible residential rental apartments.
